Steel Aces Tips and Tactics: Positioning Is Your Armor
Tactical tips for Steel Aces — positioning, line-of-sight discipline, map awareness, team coordination, and the habits that keep your tank alive.
Component damage changes what "good play" means: survival is about not being hittable in the wrong places. These habits translate directly into longer survivability and more damage per battle.
1. Hull-down is home. Any ridge that hides your hull while your gun stays up is free armor. Learn depression limits (gun handling) to use them.
2. Angle your hull. Armor at an angle is thicker armor — the damage model rewards 20-30 degrees of hull angling against incoming fire.
3. Watch your sides. Flank exposure kills tanks with otherwise strong frontal armor. Position with your retreat path pre-planned.
4. Shoot modules, not silhouettes. Tracks stop movement; guns stop shooting; engines stop retreats. Targeted module damage (the game's core system) wins fights at equal skill.
5. Play the objectives. Positioning that ignores the objective concedes the map even while winning fights.
6. Track the meta. Early Access balances frequently — patch notes land in news within 48 hours, and meta shifts change which tanks reward mastery.
